At the Sutton Implant Clinic, we understand that many people experience anxiety when attending the dentist however in most cases this anxiety can be removed with the aid of conscious sedation using the drug midazolam.
Sedation will induce a state of deep relaxation, and you will remember little or nothing about your treatment afterwards.
Our oral surgeon Mr Graham James is very experienced in the provision of intravenous sedation, and our practice is fully equipped with the latest monitoring devices so that we can keep a careful eye on you at all stages of treatment. This technique enables you to experience modern dentistry in a relaxed manner free from stress & anxiety.
We offer two types of sedation: oral sedation and intravenous (IV) sedation-dentistry-sutton-coldfield.
Oral sedation involves taking tablets shortly before the start of treatment, and is an excellent option if needles form part of your phobia. IV sedation requires the placement of a small needle in your arm or the back of your hand to deliver sedative drugs.
If you opt for treatment under sedation, you will need to bring someone with you to take you home and look after you for a few hours as it will take some time for sedative drugs to wear off. You must not drive, operate machinery or cook during this time. Your dentist will provide you with full pre- and post-sedation advice to follow. You no longer need deprive yourself of the benefits of modern dentistry now that intravenous sedation is available.
